ATHENA
Did he really say that?
Am I remembering this correctly?
Am I overreacting?
It can be extraordinarily nuanced. A comment here. An observation there. Nothing quite dramatic enough to point to and say, There. That’s what’s happening.
Over time, you may begin questioning things you once felt certain about. What you heard. What you remember. What you experienced. Even what you know about yourself.
And statements such as “I never said that,” “That’s not what happened,” or “You’re imagining things” can begin to land very differently when you’ve already started questioning your own perception.
It can be extraordinarily difficult to see a pattern when you’re living inside it.
I’ve spent more than 10 years working individually and in specialized, discrete groups with women who have experienced narcissistic abuse, gaslighting, manipulation, high-conflict relationships, and the aftermath that can continue even after a relationship ends.
I don’t need to diagnose the person you’re describing, and you don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis for them either.
We can look at what happened. What was said. What you experienced. What patterns you began noticing. What changed in you, your relationships, and the way you trusted your own perceptions.
For many women, the awareness itself can be startling.
You may have heard about narcissistic abuse, gaslighting, manipulation, or controlling relationships for years without recognizing yourself in any of it.
And then something begins to come into focus.
Oh my God. This is me.
How did I even get here?
There’s something extraordinarily powerful about sitting with other women and realizing:
I’m not the only one this happened to.
One woman tells a story and another recognizes a piece of her own. A woman puts words around an experience another woman has felt but hasn’t quite known how to describe. A pattern that has been difficult to see while you’re living inside it can look different when you hear it reflected in another woman’s story.
In a group, I may bring the phoropter, but I’m certainly not the only one bringing a lens.
You hear what other women are seeing through theirs, while you still have the final say about what fits your own experience.
Another woman’s question can bring something into focus. Her story can lead you to consider something you hadn’t considered before.
We talk. We listen. We ask questions and look at options. We may role-play a difficult conversation, find words for something that has been hard to say, script a text you’ve been staring at for twenty minutes, or phoropterize something together.
That’s group clarity.
Nobody hands anybody else a prescription.
We bring our different lenses, and we look together.
We meet live on Zoom four Monday evenings each month with Coach Poppy™.

And yes, women outside the United States are absolutely welcome.
When I first created Athena, about 17 women were part of the group at different times, joining us from across the United States and from Canada, London, and Spain.
Our actual gatherings were intimate. Oftentimes there were just five to seven of us on a call, which gave every woman who wanted to talk the chance to talk and made it perfectly comfortable to come and listen.
One woman in Spain told me she looked forward to our gatherings so much that she stayed up until 2:00 in the morning to be there.
I’ve never forgotten that.
You can bring something that happened that week. A conversation you’re dreading. A text you don’t know how to answer. A relationship you’re trying to understand. A pattern you’ve begun noticing. Something that happened years ago that suddenly looks different from where you’re standing now.
We can talk about co-parenting, family dynamics, exes, partners, friendships, difficult conversations, boundaries, changes you’re considering, or those moments when something feels a little wonky and you can’t quite put your finger on why.
You can participate as much or as little as you wish.
Our live Athena gatherings are not recorded, so what we share together stays in the gathering rather than becoming part of a replay or video library.
Your $47 monthly membership includes four live Monday-night Zoom gatherings with Coach Poppy™, the Athena community, and access to selected Athena resources I’ve created over the years.
Those resources are there whenever you feel like exploring them. You can also just show up.
And I promise, there’s no gold star for finishing everything. 😉
Our first gathering is Monday, October 5, 2026.
